Congratulations to the Black family, the recipients of the 2009 Trent Family Award.  This award is a great source of pride for the AP Swim and Dive Team Board members.  It began as a testimony to the Trent family, formerly of Arlington Park, who gave so much of themselves to the AP swim team.  The Trent family established a stellar example of the art of volunteering.  The AP swim and dive teams have been very fortunate that many families have followed suit and dedicated countless hours to the aquatics programs that are offered on an annual basis.  Betsy has been the AP parent representative for the Fort Wayne Summer Dive League for a number of years.  She has helped to run the city dive meet on a regular basis.  In addition, she has served on the AP Swim and Dive Board as the dive liaison for a couple of years, meaning that she has announced, judged, and done just about everything to run our dive meets over the years.  She has also assisted on the swim side in a number of capacities, including sending e-mail communiques to all families the last few years.  Everyone involved in diving in Fort Wayne is aware of Betsy's many contributions.  Scott has also helped to run the city dive meet and has been running the computer at home AP swim meets for the past couple of years.  He is currently running the computer for home meets for Three Rivers Aquatic Club as well.  Megan has been diving since she was six and has completed her last year of diving for AP as she graduated from Northrop High School earlier this summer.  Megan is an accomplished diver at the high school and club levels and is currently one of AP's dive coaches.  She will attend Purdue University in the fall to study elementary education.  We are fortunate to have Megan working with our young divers.  Ryan began his swim career on the prep side when he was six and was a diver when he was younger as well.  He is currently competing in the 15/older division and will be a sophomore this year at Northrop High School.  He has already established himself as an accomplished high school and club swimmer for Three Rivers Aquatic Club.  Betsy and Scott have been instrumental volunteers for AP Swim and Dive and truly have set a wonderful example for their children and for the rest of us as well.  Congratulations to the Black family!
